Title: Where are Bawnafinna and Whalim Lodge?
Post by: GHAnderson on Saturday 19 March 05 21:20 GMT (UK)
My husband's great-grandfather's (William Ford, b. 10 Apr 1880) birthplace is listed as Bawnafinna, Cork, Ireland.  I can't seem to find it anywhere, although his immigration papers state his nearest relative is John Ford of Whalim? Lodge, Blarney, Cork, Ireland.  Family history says the Fords were groundskeepers at Blarney Castle.  Is this Bawnafinna somewhere nearby?

Thanks!

A short distance from Cork city on the road to Mallow. A straight line from Blarney to the Cork / Mallow road gives you a triangle and the townland of Bawnnafinny in the parish of Garrycloyne is within that area. Whalim Lodge is probably the name of the gate lodge where John Ford may have lived
