Can someone take a look and see if they can find the baptism of Frances Tellett or Tillett.
In the census records she gives her birth date between 1809 and 1811.
Her mother is Mary (b. abt 1771).
I don't know who her father is which is what I would be interested in knowing.
Thank you
mab
p.s. Frances Tellett married an Edward Griffiths

Hi Mab
I've only the PRs as far back as 1811. During this year there are no births of TELLETTs however there are some mentions of TELLETTs, no TILLETTS.
If you like I'll send you the details. Sorry I can't help with Frances

Re: your original request, found at the Archives.
Baptism 15th April 1807, Frances Tellett d/o William and Mary Joy. William was a labourer, abode - Pentrobin.
Also to this couple:
Joy Tellett (clearly says son) 8th July 1801. Father still a labourer.
Francis Tellett (son) 7th February 1810. Father now a farmer.
In Mary's case "Joy" is her surname, as there are several others in the index.
Also a larger number of Telletts.
If you'd like to expand the Tellett and/or the Joy families, I can look them up on my next visit, but I don't know when that will be.
Tecwyn.

You have really solved a puzzle for me ;D Thank you very much.
Frances Tellett married Edward Griffiths and they had a daughter named Sarah Joy Griffiths. I didn't consider that her second name Joy was a reference to a surname. It just seemed like a common middle name :-\
Ah well ;D
mab
p.s Thank you for your offer but I've just started looking at this line and I don't know what I need as yet.

Hello there.....
Just in case you ever need it.... I have most of the Parish Record from 1697 onwards for Hawarden. I am missing a couple, but hope to rectify this shortly....

Hi, I was hoping you could help me - I am looking for information on Thomas Roberts born 1697 Clwd Wales. His father is Edward Roberts and his mother is said to be Margaret (daughter of Sir John conway 1663). I have never been able to confirm this and it has always been a puzzle to me. I was hoping that if you had record from Hawarden you may be able to help as all of Thomas' 9 children were born in Hawarden. I look forward to your reply.

Re Tellet
Tellet, Francis, Plas Llewelyn, Rhuddlan, Flint, Farmer
Francis Tellet : will, 1856.
He names his late brother Joy, his wife Jane, it`s a very detailed will .

Plas Llewlyn, as shown on a c1870 OS map, is now in a completely built up area of Rhyl. I don't know whether the original farmhouse is still there, but I'll have a look next time I'm in town.
-
Thank you very much. Do you know if I can print a hard copy?
mab
-
I don't know whether you can find it online. I've got it on disc, but because of problems with my network, I'll need to load it onto my PC (I'm on my laptop now), print a section, scan and save it, carry it over to the laptop and then post it on here. ??? It's not difficult, but takes a bit of time, so I'll do it tomorrow.
-
The link that Wilcoxon gives is an on line view but I don't think you can print it but I will have to take another look at it ;D
Thank you

As promised, a part of the c1870 OS map showing Plas Llewelyn. The main road into town, if you're travelling from the A55 through Rhuddlan, follows the road from the Water Works shown on the old map. Ty'n Rhyl, said to be the oldest house in the town, is still there. It's now a restaurant and sits next to an Esso garage. http://www.barrattsoftynrhyl.co.uk/
??? I've just pressed "add a photograph etc" and nothing happened. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
-
I don`t think it applies to look up request threads. It will work on the other Flintshire subject pages, i suppose you can post it on there and then add a link from here.
-
Thanks Wilcoxon, I'll give that a try,and send Forthefamily a PM so he/she can look out for it.

It's a bit of a while since someone has posted on this topic so I hope someone is still looking at it!
I'd be grateful for any information about Sarah Vernon, born around 1853 in Hawarden. Her father's name was Thomas. Her mother may have been Mary, née Davies. In the 1861 census Sarah appears to be living with her maternal grandfather William Davies, so were her parents deceased?
Thanks in advance!
-
Well Thomas Vernon didn't die,it was Mary who died in 1856.A lot of the info is to be found on Cheshire BMD.Thomas first married Mary Davies at Hawarden St Deiniol in 1847.Mary died as I say in 1856,given in the Hawarden Sub-District on Cheshire BMD.Thomas married for a second time to a Maria Jones in what is given on Cheshire BMD as a Cheshire Civil Marriage in 1857.

William Russell Jones.

It appears that Thomas died in West Derby Liverpool in 1879.Sarah's siblings were a John Vernon, born in Hawarden c 1849 and died in Hawarden in 1855.There was a William Vernon born in Hawarden in 1850.There was also a Thomas James Vernon born in Hawarden in c 1855.
