Australia recordsearch shows in WWI records a "Granville Williams", aged 24 years 9 months in April 1916, father Robert.
Gives his birthplace as Mole Creek, though.  Could this be your "Grandville Modds Williams"?

Not sure if this would be your chap, but 1922 Electoral Roll, Granville Modo Williams was a farmer at Burnie, Tas... quite a few with surname Williams on that part of the roll ... (Darwin, with polling place of Emu Bay)...

some "Williams" females with Burnie as address :  (adding, from same 1922 roll)
Alice, home duties;
Beatrice (Jones St - only one with street address noted) home duties;
Daisy Mildred, home duties;
Eileen Charlotte, home duties;
Kathleen Elda, home duties;
Ruby Ethel Oakleigh, saleswoman;

.... from that 1922 roll, there's no way of knowing if any of these lasses were the wife/mother/daughter/cousin/aunt etc of Granville Modo Williams... And of course there's no way of knowing if that Granville Modo was your Grandville Modds  but hope this helps if only to eliminate possible marriages/children...

Looking for marriages, children and deaths of Grandville Modds Williams b.1891  ll b. Deloraine  Tas.

If this was your chap, then he was in Tas in 1922  ;)
Cheers,  JM

Hi,
Adding small info about the ww1 war record which may well belong to GRANVILLE.

We see that as NOK father ROBERT has an address of MONTELLA, BURNIE TAS.

Headstones at Wivenhoe Cemetery Burnie.
ROBERT REDVEAR WILLIAMS d. 1969, aged 69
ROBERT HENRY WILLIAMS d. 1931 at 68

So it appeaars they were in the Burnie area.

Hi Hoody

Yes I knew Edith very well she was my Great Aunt.
The French family in Tasmania goes back to Francis and Ann French who left England with their children early 1820s
Francis was one of first preachers in Launceston

If you have a Tas. connection I can look for him in the book  "Go ....be fruitful and multiply"

cheers
