Post by: frek on Tuesday 23 February 10 08:31 GMT (UK)
Could anyone tell me where Warkonley is please?
In 1851 , taken in Wolstanton, Staffordshire,  I have John Cook b.1795 born at Warkonley, Cheshire, his wife Maria b.1811 at Wolstanton.
 Thank you for any help.

Is your John the same John cook that was christened on 16th July 1797 St George Staybridge
Parents James & Mary?

There is a John Cooke [sic] christened 23rd Aug. 1795 Nantwich, in the IGI. Could this be your man?
According to Genuki, Barthomley was in the hundred of Nantwich.

My e-mail system has been playing up so just in case my earlier `thanks` did not arrive could I thank all who helped me with my query  - I would not have read it as Barthomley. I think the baptism is possibly correct too so I am now a line further back.
Many thanks again.

I think my early genealogical 'lessons' came in handy here!
