Thanks Lee,
I am looking for Christiana Morris died 2nd April 1873 at Lee Lane Horwich, aged 51 years.
Her husband was called William Morris.

Hi KR,
Most likely place of burial is Lee Chapel (Lee Lane Congregational Church) which was sold to developers and the graveyard has been demolished. I have a list of all the gravestones from here and there are no Morris's at all. They could be still be buried there and Bolton Archives have the records. Let me know if you would like me to look for you next time I'm in Bolton.
Ridgemont Cemetery did not open until 1928.

Hi KR,
I found Christiana Morris was buried at Holy Trinity (Horwich Parish Church) on 6th April 1873. Unfortunately the grave register does not go back this far, so we don't know who she is buried with. I did find some William's but didn't have enough info to ascertain which one. I don't have the gravestones from this church so don't know if they have a headstone or not. If I find one I'll let you know.

That's wonderful, thank you so much.

Hi Tipps,
Can I ask another favour.
I think William Morris died June quarter 1893 Bolton aged 70.
If you have time in the future months would it be possible for you to look for his burial at Holy Trinity.

hi all. googled Lee Lane Congregational Church and found your postings. i am trying to find my great grandmother's place of burial. you said that you have a list of names from headstones at this former church site.
i have reason to believe that my great grandmother martha proctor is buried at a horwich church. is her name on your list please. all searches so far have proved negative, there is nothing at the history museum in bolton or on lancashire line. martha died 01.02.1910.
also do you know where the register of burials is kept for this former church now?
i hope this reaches you i am new at this. :)

Hi,
I have Martha Proctor buried at Lee Lane Congregational Church on 3rd Jan 1910 aged 58 years. Her abode is listed as 48 Eckersley Rd, Bolton. There is no other info.
I don't have a gravestone for her, so she may not have had one or it had become unreadable.
I don't have any other Proctors buried at this church for the period I've covered, 1765 - 1920.
The records for up to approximately 1920 are held at Lancashire Record Office. The last I knew about the more recent records up to the church closure, was that the church treasurer/secretary still had possession of them (but I can't remember his name and don't have a contact number). I spoke to him a couple of years ago and he said he was building a database, but would be forwarding the registers to Lancashire Record Office.
Hope this helps in your research.

Sorry KR, hadn't noticed your post. I work full-time now and not available to get down to Horwich Heritage who have a database of Holy Trinity records. They are only open a couple of hours each day. It may be worth contacting them to see if they'll do a look-up for you. Alternatively they sell a CD with the database on which can be bought via their website http://www.horwichheritage.co.uk/publications.htm
I do believe that Bolton Archives will do a free search (15 mins or so), so it may be worth giving them the name, date and church etc.
Hope this helps and sorry I can't get there myself.

Hi Tipps; wow that is really good news. The address of her residence and age concures with my own records.
It is really good to know the place of her interment even though the church and grave yard are no longer as they were.
Really gratefull for your help. :)
