Hi all,
I'm looking for any information regarding the marriage/burial/whereabouts of my relatives. Thomas KEANE (b. 1911??) married Kathleen Louise PARKER (b 25/08/1912) in Bucklow in 1948. Kathleen was from Surrey, but died in Stockport in 1982, Thomas in 1990 - I think. I would like more info on Thomas if possible, and anything else that can give me branches off my tree - did they have any children?
Many thanks!

Hi,
A copy of their marriage certificate should show the name and occupation of both fathers; using that you should be able to track the Keane family using the census records and births/mariages/deaths.
Certs can be ordered online, using the details below, and cost £7; take about a week to arrive.

Hello, thanks for the reply.
I have now got the marriage certificate. And I'm still stumped!
Thomas Kevin Keane (b. 24/2/1912), an 'Asbestos Cement Maker Clerk' married Kathleen Louise Parker (b.25/08/1912) on the 11th May 1948 in St. Josephs Chapel in Bucklow.
Father of Thomas = Thomas - a shop manager (jeweller).
Father of Kathleen = James Parker (deceased) - a municipal bus driver. (this is not true, she was illegitimate)
They lived at 34 Harboro Road, Sale - now a children's home. Why did they live together?
Witnesses to marriage = W J Keane and J C Parker. No idea who they are.
I can't seem to get anywhere with this. Because of the dates, they don't fall on census'.
I will have to get the birth cert of Thomas now and work back!
If anyone can help in the meantime (electoral rolls etc) I would be very grateful!!

Hi,
Often the bride and groom use the same address to save paying for the Banns to be called in 2 parishes; my parents did this ;) and I have found other examples in my tree.
The witnessess could be family members; have you looked for the Keane family on 1911 census? WJ Keane could be a brother or sister.
Using the birth cert of Thomas you can search for the marriage of his parents.
Their death certs, if you are certain it is them, might give useful information.

A bit extra that may or may not help.
Bucklow in this instance is the Registration District and covered quite a large area including Sale in which is Harboro Road - where they lived. St Joseph's Chapel, where they married would appear to be the Roman Catholic Church on Hope Road in Sale.

Hi all,
I'm still working on this one -
KATHLEEN (KITTY) was born in Kingston, Surrey - she was illegitimate and was born in a workhouse.
So how did she end up in Cheshire? Is there any way to find out? As far as we know - which isn't a lot - she had contact with her birth mother as someone in the family remembers her.
I also can't find a birth for her husband.
So I'm a bit stumped - how can I move forward and find out more about my great aunt?
Many thanks,
C

Re Thomas Kevin Keane, born 24/02/1912. I'm guessing you've derived the date of birth from the death registration index. Given his date of death the actual death certificate should also state place of birth. As ever date & place of birth will only be as accurate as the informant's knowledge, but this would seem to be the way forward.

Great, thanks, I didn't know that - I've only really dealt with DC from before 1950!
Will look into it, perhaps it will be my next breakthrough?!
