Electoral rolls
1931
Thomas O'DEMPSEY, grocer, 543 Church St Richmond (Vic) with Manilla Cavitie Court O'DEMPSEY, home duties

I cannot see either of them later; there is a Thomas O'Dempsey in Qld but he and many others with same surname appear in Darling Downs Qld  before this Thomas emigrated.  I see a Patrick Thomas O'Dempsey later in Victoria.

Modified to add

1936, 1937, 1943
Manilla Cavitie C DEMPSEY, clerk, 36 Weigall St, South Yarra.  By coincidence of the surnames being close alphabetically at the same address is Reyer Laurence DE MOEL, labourer

1936 also has Laurence DE MOEL, cutter

1949 Manilla is still at Weigall St, at same address Margaret Eilleen DEMPSEY, munitions worker - no De Moel

1954 - there are two entries for Manilla, one at Weigall St - none of the others at that address but also
Manilla Cavitte DEMPSEY, supervisor, 15 Cobham Rd, Mitcham

Cheers, Judith

DE MOEL, REYER LAURENCE has a ww2 Service Record in the Royal Australian Air Force.  It shows hisDate of Birth 4 Aug 1914 and his Place of Birth  is MELBOURNE, VIC.  He enlisted on 23 Aug 1940  and was then living at FITZROY  enlisting in MELBOURNE, VIC
Next of Kin DE MOEL, VALERIE
Date of Discharge 7 Nov 1945.

There is also one for
 DEMPSEY, THOMAS
in the  Australian Army for just 2  months.
It shows his Date of Birth to be  15 Apr 1895.  Is that right?
His Place of Birth is WEXFORD, IRELAND  and he enlisted on 28 Feb 1940  at SEYMOUR, VIC
Next of Kin DEMPSEY, WHYLMA
Date of Discharge 29 Apr 1940
I see he was in the CANTEEN SERV    which may tie in with his GROCERY trade.

Hi Miran,
I wonder if you could clarify just a little for me some points in your last post.

Thomas DEMPSEY had a son named SYLVESTER THOMAS?

SYLVESTER seems also to have disappeared?

THOMAS DEMPSEY had a brother in Australia named PAT.?

PAT left his wife in Ireland.

THOMAS DEMPSEY met his brother PAT in a BARBER's shop?

Have I understood correctly?

Sue

Hello, I've just discovered this site. Thomas Dempsey was my grand father and I am the daughter of his eldest, Margaret Eileen. This is amazing. I'm in Australia, and have contact with some of Patrick's grandchildren. Thomas's son, slyvester William, is my uncle Bill..

I think the Slyvester you are enquiring about was an older brother of Patrick and Thomas and do not believe he came to Australia

ALL Civil Reg for Birth, Marriage and Death results for DEMPSEY of Enniscorthy REG DISTRICT (1864+)

LINK    http://www.rootschat.com/links/01oz2/

One can then Select Marriage, and then on 1800 or 1900 folder  to get Marriages by Decade

same with Births, Deaths

Some with Returns Page No don't have Images of Certs at moment but one can use Link about every few months to check for updates.

It is the Irish Govt BDM Website, safe to use, Free

One needs to solve Captcha and can use initials to sign in. No Sub/Reg needed.

One can Right-click on 5 or 6 names and open them in new tabs etc..... quicker!

examples attached
