Title: William RICHARDSON - Lamesley - Birth Details Sought approx. 1846

I am trying to track down the actual date of William Richardson's birth. I have a good estimate of 1846 +/- 1 year. The town Lamesley crops up a lot in the family history here - he was down as a five year old on the 1851 census in Lamesley.

FREE BDM has a few hits but not sure which might be his  ??? Any advice would be grand.

His parents were James Richardson and Jane Maddison.

Out of interest would any one know which District Lamesley would fall under for registering births?

between 1844 and 1848 there are only 2 births regd in chester le street
william richardson 1844 ,oct/nov/dec,chester le street, vol 24 page 31
ditto 1845 apr/may/jun,chester le street, vol 24. page 41
you could ask that they only send the cert if the fathers name matches what you already know
i believe they make a small charge for this

Thanks for the info. I just hope he was registered in Chester-Le-Street...and not born and registered elsewhere in Co. Durham.

If you send an email to Bishop Auckland Register Office with those details (bar the vol & pages no's as they aren't relevant to the RO's) & his parents names they will check with, if any of the births matches those details.  You will then be able to apply for the correct cert.

In 1851 census, they are living in Chowdean, Lamesley.
Baptism at Lamesley St. Andrew, August 8th 1845. William, son of James and Jane Richardson of Chowdean, fathers occupation Pitman.
Doesn't really help that much on the birth reg date though.

The baptism seems have taken place at St Andrews Lamesley on August 8th 1845 to James & Jane of Chowdean,
occupation pitman. Image is in the BTs for Lamesley on image number 793.

The first one will be worth ordering and x-ref with parents names.
