Hello,
I'm Alison who put the post on re William Christie and Jean Kemlo,
are you related too? A person related through Robertson and a man related through William, son of David and Mary got in touch with me. I was able to give him David's death cert details.
There are three other children too, one, Catherine, apparently had a birth cert, but it has not been recorded on the microfische, she married Alexander Moug and had about 7 children; also two other brothers Alexander and Andrew. Alexander unfortunately died a pauper in Sunnyside, Lunatic Asylum as they so nicely put it in those days. He had a brain disease and died aged about 47, Alexander worked as a carter in North Moor, county Durham and seems to have married a woman called Sarah Hardie (bit hard to make the name out) I don't know if he had family down in Durham or not. Andrew married and died in Kirriemuir in his 70's. I'm sorry I don't have my notes with me.
Someone suggested that Jean Kemlo may have been the daughter of Adam Kemlo and Margaret Lyon but that they thought that their daughter Jean had died. There was a Kemlo User group going until approx 3 years ago when the person running it died. I found a David Christie who called his son James Cobb Christie and tracked down his father, Francis. I thought that he might have been a brother to William; , Francis's father was Thomas Christie, (no wife's name); however, Thomas may have been a brother to William and there is a Thomas who might fit in with being the father of William Christie. I took lots of photos around Benholm and a few of Inverbervie, but there are few farm cottage buildings dated from that time.
I don't know if you have any more info yourself? Thanks for getting in touch., Cheers, Alison

PS Where have you seen the spelling 'Kemlay' for Kemlo;? I haven't seen that spelling anywhere; just the one time her name was spelt 'Kemloe'.

Re my post yesterday;
Catherine, Alexander and Andrew were the 'extra children' of David and Mary Christie.
I was wrong re the names of wives; Alexander married Sarah Hill, Andrew married Catherine Hardie.
On Alexander's death cert, the witness for the family is his 'brother in law' Kenward Kinnear; I'm blowed as to how he is the brother in law of any of the brothers and sisters, he must be related in some other way.
On a census, staying with David and Mary is a grandchild called Jean Ricard, and who the parents are, I have yet to find out. They were living in Cairnton at the time, by Stracathro.
Are you related to any of my Grant and Gordon relatives from Tomintoul? I keep hoping someone will appear who can sift through the umpteen Grants and Gordons living there; I can only go back again, to the late 1700's.

Hello ,
while i'm not a 100% sure , but theres an lot of coincidences...my g-g-g-grandmother had a sister named mary Taylor born around 1811 St Cyrus,
I know in one of the census's they had a Robert kemlo & Alexander kemlo (must have been visiting Marys mother at time )..the reason i think its' the same one is another child listed belonging to Marys sister "Ann"is my connection.
was mary's husband a sailor ?...& did she marry or live with a guy named Francis Stephen??.
cheers ,
Snowolf
