Title: Decipher Parish

I am trying to decipher the name of a parish in Cork. It is Church of Ireland. The best I can come up with is Rincun or Bincun.

An ancestor got married in an R.C. church and then in this C.O.I. church a month later. I am assuming that he wanted to keep both sides of the family happy.

Hi Grumpyoldgit,

I couldn't make out the parish, but looking at a list of Church of Ireland Parishes in Cork, I think it may be Rincurran.

I think you have it.

I did a search of Rectors of Rincurran and came up with a Rev John Bagwell Creagh, who would have been the incumbent at the time. Using a bit of imagination, the signature could be John B Creagh.

My ancestor was Robert Hughes b abt 1796 and was in the Wexford Militia and 12th Foot. I assume he must have been stationed at Cork.

His bride, Sarah Ware came from Titchfield in Hampshire but I have no idea what she was doing in Ireland. Robert left the army in 1838. The same year they had a son, Robert Hughes, b 1/7/1838 and moved to England in time to be in the 1841 census, living in Southampton.
