Hi,
Hope you can help. I'm researching my family history and have a photograph of Walter Hooton, a bandsman in the British Army during WW1. Can anyone help in identifying the regiment. Thanks for your help. John

In the second pic, dating to the end of 1918 or thereabouts he's wearing a medal ribbon (probably the 1915 star).
That's good news as there should be a MIC for him. This is the best match:

The cap badges are a bit indistinct but the badge on the bass drum seems to clinch it. Looks promising.

Looks like the Bedfordshire Regiment to me - background of Maltese Cross, hart or stag in centre, curved title beneath. [Beds & Herts from 1919].
