Post by: smcb on Monday 15 February 10 13:39 GMT (UK)
Hello

Does someone have the MI for Logierait?  Im looking for Grace Stewart died  27 AUG 1855.  Glenalbert, Little Dunkeld. She was married to William Stewart.  Her death cert states she was buried Logierait.  Any help would be much appreciated.  Thank you.

Hello
I had a look but could not find the burial in Logierait MI, although there were alot of Stewarts buried there. I had a look in the 1851 Logierait census and there were five possible Grace Stewarts ranging from  age 39 to 66. What age was she when she died?

Hi Silvercraig,

Grace died in 1855 in the parish of Little Dunkeld.  The reason I asked for MI's in Logierait is that it states "...burial ground of logierait as certified by Chas Fraser(?) undertaker" on her death cert. She was 78 years old. I wondered if she was possibly buried beside her husband William stewart.  However I cannot find a birth or death for William yet.

Thank you for your time in having a look though.

kind regards
suzie

Suzie, was Stewart Grace's maiden name? Women are frequently buried under their maiden names so if it was something else you could try looking for that.

She is on the 1851 census aged 70 living at Glenalbert in Little Dunkeld with her two sons William and Alexander.
Relatively few of the people buried at Logierait have a head stone so it is not surprising that there isn't one for Grace. :-[.

Hi Silvercraig & Cambron

Cambron :that is correct but the spelling of stewart is "Steuart" in 1851

Silvercraig: Grace's maiden name was Macintosh; she was often called grizel, (girsel, grizel, girssel)

Is there a Donald Stewart listed?

born 27 Jun 1850 Kinloch Rannoch Fortingall Perth Scotland

or a Helen Stewart (Maiden name Beattie, nick name Ellen)

born Feb 6 1858 Inveravon Banff

Their daughter (my grandma) Helen Beattie Stewart born 1885 Logierait

last I know of them.  Grandma died in 1928 in Queensland Australia

I've checked the  Logierait MI, I cannot find a suitable Donald Stewart death , there are two but they don't fit with the age & date of birth.

Came across this link: http://www.npfhg.org/LogieraitBurials.pdf

Logierait Burials 1764 - 1816 (North Perthshire FHS)

Obviously much earlier than the dates anyone's looking for on this thread, but handy nevertheless!  :)
