Title: land owner of Magreed farm Heathield, Sussex
Post by: ruth elliott on Saturday 13 February 10 14:18 GMT (UK)
Is there a way of finding who owned this farm - Magreed farm metioned on the 1841 and 1851 Census records of Heathfield.

The census gives me the tenants' names only, I think.

Hi Annette

Have you tried The National Archives site http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/a2a/

It usually quite useful for things like that.

Hi

If you go on the National Archive web site as Kerryb suggests

http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/a2a/

and enter 'Magreed Farm, Heathfield' then select the East Sussex Record Office - it comes up with two catalogue entries; one of which is a map that lists the location of the farm and its possible owner

Hope that helps
