Does anyone have any information about the Johore Volunteer Engineers please? I found a record (but cannot find it now grr) saying they were linked to the Australian Army. They were based in Malay during WW2. My great Uncle was one of them. He was captured and imprisoned, working on the Burma railway where he later died.
I know where he was imprisoned, know where he died and where he is buried. Am going to try to find out more about where he lived and what he did prior to enlisting, but in the meantime would like to find out more about the Johore volunteers!
many thanks
Em

I too would be very interested in knowing more about your G Uncle as he is listed in my family tree. I found most of my information from the CWGC.
I have just read an article in my local newspaper regarding a gentleman who served in the Jahore Volunteer Engineers and it made me think of GDT. I will try and contact the source of this article and see if he knows more. I notice that you are also interested in the Templers from Dorset. I have extensive information about this family which I will be happy to pass on to you.

Dear Em
I couldn't find a method of replying to your last reply. Could you look at www.templerfamily.co.uk which provides details of the Templer Family. This will provide a link to my e-mail address. I have now received more information about GDT and would love a copy of his photo. I am in contact with a person at http://www.malayanvolunteersgroup.org.uk who would also like to have more information about GDT

Hi
I don't know that I can give you any of the information you require but because my father-in-law, James Gardner (Tadpole) was also a member of the JVE I thought it maybe interesting to make contact.
