Thanks gengen,
Doesn't mention Father. Any chance of 1871 Census. Would appreciate a look-up. Thanks Syljun

I'm afraid the 1871 doesn't help as far as a father is concerned.
RG10/2407/37/29
Lye Water, Crewkerne
Sarah Bargery, 35, Head, Widow, Glove Sewer
Eli, 15, Factory Hand, Flax
Henry Charles, 12, Ag Lab
Sarah Ann, 8
William 6
Mary Jane 1
There is a marriage in Dec 1852 Chard, 5c/863 - Eli Bargery, ( possible spouse Sarah Mills or Hannah Brewer) This would fit the eldest son's name. There is also a death for Eli Bargery, 1864, Taunton 5c/272 but if that is actually Sarah's husband, who is the father of the youngest child!
Sarah is obviously unclear about her own age and the ages of her children - there is quite a discrepancy bteween this census and 1861.
I think I'll have a look for Eli Bargery and maybe an unmarried Sarah bargery in 1851. It is entirely possible that she was never married.
Hang on - I'll be back....

Hi again,
I have found an Eli Bargery, aged 16, with his parents in Crewkerne. He has a younger sister, Sarah aged 14, a glover. Could this be the same Sarah who, ten years later, has several children. I'm afraid the ony way you are going to sure is to send for one of her children's birth certificates.
Here is Sarah Ann - Dec 1860 Chard, 5c/470. This certificate should give you her parents' names and occupations.

Thank you Jen, you have been a great help. Syljun

Hi syljun,
I just came across this thread, as I am looking for exactly the same links between Sarah Ann Bargery, her father Eli and to whom Eli was married. I also came up with the same two possibilities of Hannah Brewer or Sarah Mills. I have Eli's Christening as 10 Nov 1833 and I have two Eli Bargery marriages on the same register Dec 1852 5c 863 one to Sarah Mills and the other to Hannah Brewer, so the only way to find a definite answer would be the parents on Sarah Ann's birth certificate.

Hi,
I'm not sure if I can help as I was at the time of request of info. trying to sort out two Sarah Ann Bargery being in contact with another researcher who in my belief had them mixed up but I believe the correct Sarah Ann Bargery daughter of Eli Bargery was born 1860 (age seems to vary on Census). Sarah married William Tucker 1886.
The Sarah Ann Bargery sister to Beatrice Alma Bargery (my connection) was born 1873 Chard.
Daughters of Walter William Bargery and Sarah Ann Carey marr. 1861 Yeovil.
If you would like me to give you the e-mail of researcher connected to Eli I will send PM.
Regards,
Syljun

Thanks for that syljun
Yes, you are correct, because the Sarah Ann Bargery to whom you refer as marrying William Tucker on 30 Jan 1886 is the one I am researching and I have their marriage cert.
If you can let me have any more contact info, I shall be grateful.
Many thanks, B

Hi
My grandfather William Bargery had a mother called Sarah (glove maker), brother Eli 1856, Brother Henry Charles 1859, sister Sarah Ann, William (my Grandfather) 1863 and a sister Mary Jane 1870 - address Lye Waters, Crewkerne,. Mother re-married James Gambling as per 1881 Census.
I feel sure this is related to one of your other searchers?
