Title: Wright & McIntyre of Aberfoyle
Post by: 1973GT6 on Wednesday 10 February 10 23:30 GMT (UK)
Does anyone else have thew same problem as me as having John Wright also listed as John McIntyre for the same marriage to Janet Cameron 31 July 1802?
It is very confusing!

I had the same thing myself a couple of months ago where an ancestor in Callander appeared as McIntyre or Wright in different certificates. It turns out that Wright is the anglicised version of McIntyre, they both mean "woodworker". At a guess I think there may have been some pressure to change to Wright after 1745.

Thanks Frankie,

The Wright's are a pain interchanging like that, I always new they could wear the McIntyre tarten.
