Title: Re: Derbyshire All Saint's Marriages
Post by: graceabides on Wednesday 10 February 10 16:08 GMT (UK)
To the user Sunshine:  Sorry, but I'm new to this website and don't yet know how to post a reply.

Can someone look up in the book Derby All Saint's Marriages in Derbyshire: - Registers of Marriages, 1558-1837b the marriage of the following:

John Rhodes b. 1634 in Derbyshire and d. 8-20-1701.  Married Elizabeth (I think her last name was Jessup) b. 1638 in Derbyshire and died 1696.  The estimated year of marriage was 1659 maybe in Chesterfield, Derbyshire.

Any baptism records on both people would also be appreciated.  I'm trying to find their parents too.

Their children were:  Adam, Mary, John, Elizabeth, Jacob, Abraham, Sarah, Hannah and Joseph.  They immigrated to Pennsylvania.

Thanks for your help and time.  Please e-mail me.

Hi Grace

Welcome to Rootschat.

I have checked Derby All Saints, but can't see anything, What makes you think they were married there?

Where were the children baptised?

Hello again

There are a few entries on the IGI for a John Rhodes married to a Elizabeth Jessup, but these are all submitted entries.  Are you going by this information or do you have definite evidence that he married an Elizabeth.

Hi,
Patron Submitted items on the IGI, suggest that John Rhoads was in the area Waingroves, Ripley.

There is a Bpt  2.4.1637 North Wingfield Parish Church Johanis Roads son of Johanis Roads & Anna.
There is also a marriage of a John Roades = Ann Browne 23.1.1633 again at North Wingfield.

Could the bpt of 1637 possibly be your John Roads?

You have a death date, is this from a Will or Church Records?  do the records you have give details
of where he was living when he died?

Who were his children?  Did he have a daughter Rebecca?

The more information you give the better.

He died in 1701 in the area of Marple Township or Darby, Chester County, Pennsylvania, USA.

He immigrated to Pennsylvania about 1696.  His son John came at age 18 in 1682.
