Seems to be a couple of journey's in 1920 for Emmanuel. Jan 1920 and June 1920 going to brother Frances.
Elizabeth Emmanuel travelled 7 Sept 1920 with James Rasmussen (Engineer) and Samuel Lauritz Rasmussen (Painter) on the Empress of Britain to join Emmanuel in Rainy River.

An entry on UK incoming passenger list for Emmanuel and Elizabeth 3 June 1933 from Montreal to Glasgow. On SS Letitia. Address of passengers given as Post Office. Muchells. Aberdeen.
COUNTRY OF PERMANENT RESIDENCE IS CANADA
-
This might be another name to ask grandmother about. Emmanuel was going to brother Francis in 1920.
Francis was probably born 25 Sept 1881 Aberdeen and married Elizabeth Paterson McCallum in Aberdeen 14 Oct 1904. He was the son of Lauritz and Jessie.
On the 1911 census of Canada Thunder Bay and Rainy River
Francis Rasmussen 29 Elizabeth Rasmussen 26 Lauritz Rasmussen 5 Frances J Rasmussen 6 months old.
Francis was a fireman and immigrated to Canada in 1907

I think this must be Elizabeth & the youngest son Lauritz going to Canada on the Empress of Ireland on 17 July 1908. She appears to be going to her husband in Winnipeg.
Tis one is Francis/Franks wife
-
So both Emmanuel and Francis have wives called Elizabeth.
This one on the SS Letitia on the 2 Oct 1932 was born in Macduff. Scotland. Been in Canada since 1908 and her husband is Frank Rasmussen. 10831 110th Street. Edmonton. Alberta
-
yes you are right both married to elizabeth ,
thanks so much for this info ,

In reply 1 - James Rasmussen (son of Emmanual and Elizabeth) appears to be Rasmuss James Rashmussen.
This name appears as a British Colunbia death on 2 Dec 1979. Burns Lake British Columbia.
Age 74 years. The age is a couple of years out but one to bear on mind.
I cannot find any entry for the family in the USA. Since Emmanuel stated he was going to brother Francis in Rainy River when he went in 1920, it is looking more likely Emmanuel and Elizabeth were also in Canada. The other son Samuel Lauritz was also married in Canada.
This may need to move to the Canada board. ;D

Maybe this is another name you could ask about.
Elizabeth Rasmussen (wife of Francis) was listed on detroit border crossings on 6 July 1942.
She states her birthplace as McDuff. Seal and was going to visit her sister Mrs Joe Smythe.
Perhaps this is the Detroit connection ? ???
-
Same Elizabeth shows again on Detroit border crossing 27 Aug 1944. Going to Mrs J E Smythe sister. Slight spelling variation birthplace is McAduff

Hi Amstel,
I've checked many different spelling variations of Emmanuel/Immanuel/Manuel/Manny etc also Rasmussen/Rosmussen/Rasmassen/Rasmossen etc but nothing in the USA.
Go back to reply 4 and the permanent country of residence is Canada in 1933.
