As still born's did not have to be registered, there would be no birth record  or death records. Manchester burial site does list children who died at birth but there is nothing to say yours are on there site and might be buried in Private cemeteries like ST Joesph's Moston.

any way of finding church yard burials?have you any advice of finding
children's graves that were born alive but died hours or days later, but the

Stillborn children are registered.

You need to be next of kin to get copies of their birth/death certificates.  You will also need to know the date of death.  Apply to the Registrar's Office just as you would for any certificate but you need to fill in a special form.

You may not find a burial. I know from my own research that stillborns even into the 1960s were often buried with someone who died at the same time in the area.

If you search Stillborn or stillbirths on here, there's a lot of information already posted which may help.

Ann

Good morning everyone,
If you want to know where a still born baby is buried, look in the burial books of the local cemetery or ring the local cemetery office.  You need to know the date of birth/death for this.  There will be an entry for them, eg -
Still born son of Joe Bloggs, sometimes an address, then Grave number 123.  Ask who else is in the grave and you should be told.

Good luck

If only it was that easy - Most cemeteries in the Greater Manchester area will charge you for burial details, playing dumb works now and again, but they will never give you full "who else" details.

Blackburn with Darwen Cemetery Records are fully searchable on film in both Blackburn and Darwen Libraries.  You can also go to the Cemeteries Office if you have a date and look yourself at the originals although this isn't encouraged.  They have always looked to see who was in the grave I wanted, given me names and dates of burial too.

Sorry that Manchester aren't as accommodating.  I am sure you can insist on seeing or getting the information from them.

Good luck,
Pauline

I have received in the past 2 weeks the "stillborn" birth certificate of my little Sister in Bolton, I already had the receipt for the burial 12 shillings & 6d.

Have since contacted the Bolton cemetery who will issue me with a map of where she is buried.

Trish :)
