Title: British Subject's
Post by: nedda on Tuesday 09 February 10 08:38 GMT (UK)
Hi,

Just wondering if anybody knows if a British Subject (born in Philadelphia), went back to England, would there be any immigration/emmigration records of him returning????

I am talking about circa 1769 onwards, so appreciate it is quite early for records.

Thanks

What is the name of this British subject? You can find certain records but a name would help

Hi superhoop,

We believe his name is John Kilchrist.  However surname variances could be Gilchrist, Killchrist, Killgrass, Gilbriest.

Somebody put me onto a John Gilchrist born in Philadelphia in 1758.  I have found a few members of the family, but nobody seems to know anything about what happened to him. So what we are wondering is if he is "ours" and the reason the family don't know anything about him is because he returned to England.

Thanks
