Hi Kate
I can find only two men with that name and date of birth in North Yorkshire in 1841 and 1851, one in Whitby is a Tailor, and one in Helmsley a Shoemaker
Do you know the names of his parents?
Barbara :)

I see there is a baptism for Thomas on familysearch 6 Apr1824 Marske In Cleveland, Yorkshire, parents Cuthbert and Jane
I found Cuthbert & Jane in 1841, and Jane widow in 1851 but Thomas was not with them, maybe he emigrated before 1841?

I wonder if this could possibly be Thomas, as his father was a carpenter, perhaps working away from home, though listed as born Durham not Yorkshire:

Thompson's Yard, Darlington, Co.Durham
in household of Edward Robson, Cabinet Maker
Thomas Beadnall 20 Joiner J (journeyman) b. Durham
not found him in 1851

His parents were Cuthbert b 1795 and Jane (Watts) b 1800 in Scotland
-
Yes, I worked that out from the IGI and the two census I found earlier :)
So he wasn't at home in 1841, and could possibly have been the one I found in Darlington, and may have emigrated before the 1851 census

well that what i can only work out, that he immigrated before the 51 census, but not knowing the area how far is Darlington from Marske on the sea??
-

i guess it would be easy enough to put the place incorrectly down when all you put was a Y/N for if you live in the county
-
Well mistakes are common in census, and I suppose you'll never be sure. When you said he might be in the building trade, joiner could well fit in with that, and his father Cuthbert was a carpenter.
If he didn't emigrate until after the next census, it would help to find him in 1851, perhaps someone else may see what I can't :)

Thanks for that info. Does it say anything else about when the Thomas beadnall arrived in Australia and where he arrived. I am also trying to work out when the other members of the Family came from like his wife and his son Thomas' wife Emma Percy's family came from and where they arrived in australia.
Thanks again
Aussie. :o)

Thomas was witness at a wedding in Gawler, S.A. IN 1850.. Victoria should have records of his arrival in Australia.
