I am looking for a marriage record for a Charles Henry Bond and Evelyn Jackson Bond registered in 1909.
I am looking mainly for the fathers names, but any information would be appreciated.
Im not sure exactly what church it would have been, but I think they would have been living in Bailey Street if that helps.
Thanks in advance

Hi
You have to know where they were married to lookup a marriage at the records office
The Bridgewater registration district covered a wide area with many churches

Im fairly sure it was in Bridgwater itself

Hi
Two options first apply for marriage certificate 1st qtr 1909 vol 5c page538 district Bridgewater.
Charles henry Bond m= Eveline Bond marriage record does not give Jackson in the full name.
Did they have a daughter Elise May in 2nd qtr 1909 bridgewater 5c p293?
cheers cardiff ;)

Hi
Im fairly sure it was in Bridgwater itself
But which church? Somebody would have to look through 3 months of records for every church in Bridgewater.
They married during the March qtr 1909 which means they married between 1st Jan and 31st March
The 1911 index shows an Elsie (not Elise) May Bond b Somerset living in Pontypridd Glamorgan
There is a Charles Henry b 1887 & Evelyn b 1888 (indexed as EVYLYN) Bond in the same household

That is the right family
If I were to make a guess, I would think they would have married at St John the Baptist Church in Bridgwater
The problem I am having is that the father was living with cousins in all the previous census' and the mother was living with her mother and her new husband, so I figure the marriage may give me some more to go on.
If this is not the right church, I couldnt make a better guess and I would probably opt to order the certificate, but I dont want to incase the information I am after isnt on there

Hi
Yes I did look at the census info and see the problem I would have to order the certificate.
It will tell you then all the info church and fathers .
good luck
cheers cardiff ;)

Perhaps in those circumstances their birth certs may be a better bet as they will give more info
From freebmd - the only entry
Births June qtr 1887
Charles Henry Bond Kingsbridge 5b 193
Where was Evelyn born? You can check for a birth for her on http://freebmd.rootsweb.com

I have found out those bits, I am just hoping that the marriage certificate will give me the names of the fathers. But as I fear one was dead and the other illegitimate, I fear the marriage record wont help...
I looked for a baptism for Charles Henry in the Blackawton registers to no avail. I was planning to go to Taunton to check the baptism records for Bridgwater for Evelyn.

Hi
I would still go down the marriage certificate route at least it will give you an answer either way and you will then know what you are looking for. For actual proof the certificates are really the only way. But we all know even certificates can tell lies but its in black and white.
For the cost of £7 pounds it can save you a great deal of time and maybe money in the future!
cheers cardiff ???

True - I have had a few in the past, some have cleared up a problem, one only made it worse :P
I will get on and order that tomorrow
