I am hoping there is someone out there who could look up a marriage for me in the pensford/publow parish registers. It took place around 1809 between James Price (a farrier) and Mary. I would like to know the exact date and Mary's maiden name. I am also looking for the birth of a Mary Flower, father John Flower (plasterer) around 1821.

I cannot find a marriage for this couple on Freereg.
There is a baptism for a Mary FLOWER IN Publow, All Saints, 03/10/1824, daughter of John and Elizabeth FLOWER of Publow. Occupation: Blacksmith.
You can search Freereg to see if there are any other possibilities

Although the occupation is wrong (blacksmith not plasterer ) it may be of interest to note these families are next door neighbours in 1841

Thanks Kris!
The problem I now have is this: James & Mary Price had a son Thomas, born 1816 who married a Mary Flower, born 1821. The confusing thing is they were married in Bristol on 14 Sept 1840 three months before their first child (Mary) was born also in Bristol. They then moved back to Pensford and are noted on the 1841 census. I can't find a record of a birth for a Mary Flower around 1816 and the only one I have found is the Mary Flower living next door to the Price's born 1824. You have mentioned it to me already.
I am beginning to suspect that the Mary next door and Mary Price are one and the same and may have been sent away to get married and have the baby but it doesn't explain why she is mentioned in the 1841 census twice or why she has given her father's occupation as a plasterer on the marriage certificate when he is a blacksmith. Also, it would mean that Thomas was 25 and Mary 16 at the time of the marriage.
One step forward two steps back!!
Thanks

Thanks Jo!
The free reg link has proved very helpful finding the christening dates of the children. I still can't find the Mary Flower born 1821 though and now suspect she was born in 1824.
Thanks again

Hi Chris,
Well I certainly got ahead of myself there didn't I thinking young Mary must have married Charles. :-[
Why do you think this Mary who married Thomas was from Publow? married in Bristol, she gives Bristol as her POB in 1851

Hi Kris
I made the fatal mistake and 'guessed' her place of birth was Publow as on the 1841 census it's given as Somerset and I think at that time Bristol was Gloucestershire. I also assumed that as there were so many Flowers in Pensford/Publow it must be right.
I can't believe you have found them in Bristol as I have been searching on Ancestry for weeks and not found them. You are right though, on the birth certificate their daughter Mary was born in Rose Street and they were married in Temple Church.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! ;D

You are welcome Chris. Glad to help. ;D
Bristol was actually Somerset in 1841.
Alas I can't find your James PRICE = Mary marriage. The only one I can find in Somerset was in Walcot in 1805
Cheers Kris :)

Hello, It is confusing when looking for place of birth etc. A part of Bristol - Bedminster - was in Somerset. Most of the other parts were in Gloucestershire. Bristol became a County in its own right back in history but it was still named as being in Somerset, or Gloucestershire, or, horrors !!!, the disbanded county of Avon.
