Thomas and Jessie were married in 1873 Wellington NZ, not sure where they died. Thomas in 1908 and Jessie 1905. I know she was born in Inverness, Scotland 1854, but don't know where Thomas was born. His father's name was John and his mother Eliza Miles.
In 2005 I got a message from Riley on your forum and he said there was a Jessie DUCK on 1893 Electoral Roll (Women) in WAIRARAPA electorate. Can anyone put that list up for me please

Hello Stricko,
There is a Thomas Henry Duck died 1908 buried in Hastings Cemetery, and a Jessie Duck died 1905 buried at Karori Cemetery.

Thank you Janette, I found my husband's grandparent's marriage notice in the paper and the death of his great-grandfather. When I find out more details of the families, I'll look some more.
Thanks again, we are so excited.

LEANDRA,
Thank you for the info on Thomas and Jessie's death details and the headstone. They ARE my husband's G.Grandparents. It was such a beaut surprise. I would appreciate it if you can find their children's birth details. I only have their daughter Jessie who married Phillip Richardson (my husband's g.parents).
Thanks again

Hi Judy,
Here are some marriges.
John Satchel ( variations Tatchel and Tapchel) married Agnes Robb Buchanan
8/5/1906.
Emma Beatrice married Walter Stanley Harmer 8/4/1907.
Lilian Edith, on NZ BMD there is a marrige for Edith Lilian Duck married Francis Summerheys Driller 17/7/1907. perhaps this is the same girl, transcribed round the wrong way.
I could not find a marrige for Eliza.
The link to NZ BMD provided above by Janette :)

Hi Judy,
James Thomas Duck born 1/12/1906 son of John and Agnes died 14/4/1983, Hastings cemetery, no headstone pic available, buried there also is Kathleen Duck died 14/5/1997, I suspect this will be James's wife. There is a headstone for his father John at Hastings on the Cem website.
Marjory Frances Treliving Driller born 4/6/1909 daaughter of Lilian and Francis.
I expect there will be more children born after the cutoff date for NZ BMD

Thanks to Janette and Leandra for your trouble, much appreciated. :) My husband and I still can't find the date Phillip Richardson left Sydney.NSW to go to N.Z. and married Jessie May Duck 1911, and when he and his wife and baby daughter left to go back to Sydney. NSW. I have records of them living in Sydney when he signed up to join A.I.F. Sep 1918. He was supposed to have sailed from England beginning of 1900 to Australia, aged 18-20, with his older brother Ernest. We don't know if he went to N.Z. on his own either. Has anyone got any ideas. I have tried so many shipping sites I'm getting seasick. Thanks, Judy
-
Hi Judy,
Just in regards to Phillip and Ernest sailing from England, you could perhaps find that on Find My Past, its a subscription site or buy credits. If you popped a post on the Emigrants and Immigrants board someone may look it up for you, Rootchatters are very generous like that :) :)
I have no experience with shipping from NSW but I am sure someone else here on the board will have some ideas for you.
Good luck

Hi Leandra, I did see that site or maybe something like it. Today I started a post on the Yorkshire England site too, so I"ll see how that goes. Tomorrow I'm going into NZ BDM site you gave me, I tried today but the site is down. I just want to find the place of the marriages you sent me. I've been adding all the info I've received thru this site and can't believe how much we know now in just a few days.
Take care

Hi Janette and Leandra,
Thanks so much for your help, it was exciting for me to see all those details, more then I expected. I have all those children and their marriages linked to their Tree.
Could you please tell me why I can't get the births of DUCK children born from 1843-1858, is that too early for the records. Their parents are John Duck and Eliza Duck who arrived in Wellington 1842.
Take care
Judy
-
Hi Judy,
The only Duck children born in that period on NZ BMD are
1853 Eliza Catherine
1850 Emma Jane
1856 Unnamed female
No parents names are given for these children.

Hi Leandra,
thanks for that. On their parents death certificates, 1892 & 1898 it stated they had 1 son living, and 3 females, no names. The son is my husband's g.grandfather Thomas Henry Vincent Duck born 1843, they mustn't have registered him.
Thanks again
Judy
