Hi,
I'm looking for my great aunt, Mary Scott, born 1889 in Coatbridge.
Parents were John Scott and Elizabeth Ann Pickford.
I can find Mary in the 1891 and 1901 cencus but cannot find any marriage or death.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
-
Hello J.Mac.
I had a couple of SP credits and did marriage lookup, alas without success.
I found a marriage1928, to an Edward Flannery. Unfortunately Mary's parent's details didn't match.
Hope this will save someone else looking at the same marriage.

Hi,
Have you been able to find a birth for Mary on SP? I had a general search and it looks like some of the possibles have middle names. This could help to find a marriage or death, especially with a popular name like Scott.
hume :)

Have you checked to see who the informant was on her parents death records?
-
Hi all,
I've been through SP for marriages and deaths but cannot find anything that looks like a possible match. Mary's birth record has no middle names either, so it's a difficult name to research.
The informant on the deaths of her father and mother was her brother James Scott.
Her mother re-married after the death of her father and was Elizabeth Ann White and died in 1947 in Hamilton.
I've also tried EllisIsland but the Mary Scott I found from Lanarkshire had a relative's address in Scotland that did not seem to tie in with her family.
Regards,

Any clues from the witnesses to her siblings marriages?
-
When and where did her mother remarry?
-
The only sibling marriage that would be possible is her brother James Scott to Mary Hughes in 1918.
I'll have to look into that one. The two other sibling marriages that I have the record for show siblings other than Mary as the witness.
Thanks for tha hint.

Her mother re-married in 1919 at Hutcheson Street Glasgow.
The witnesses were the couple married on the same page of the record.
-
What were the bride and grooms addresses at the time of the marriage? If they had moved to hamilton before Mary got married then Mary may have married in that area.
-
Hi Sancti,
Both bride and groom were living in Wishaw at the time of their marriage in 1919.

I finally solved this one.
On a trip to register house I trawled through all the Mary Scott marriages
and found her marriage in 1920 to David Thomson in Dalziel.
Her death was registered under her married name in 1955 in Calderhead.
Persistance pays in the end.
