Anyone have any information regarding the above family ?
-
Dates?
What have you got already?
-
It was pre WW2 and one daughter was called Frances.
-
Cant see a birth of a Frances Swain in Leicestershire ...
-
I have a Mary Swain B abt 1828 in Long Clawson, her father was William Swain
Mary married John Antill in 1852 at Barrow Upon Soar. They had ten children, all with the middle name Swain (or double-barrelled Swain-Antill). She died in 1879.
Long Clawson is not too far from Scalford??
-
There may be some connection, I found the Swain family I was looking for on the 1901 cencus there are four daughters and two sons and the parents names are William and Mary Elizabeth.
-
I had idly put Swain into Google and came across one of your posts. This caught my eye as Mary (Swain) and John Antill were my great-great grandparents.

Hi yjins :D
I'm not sure I can send a PM (private message) until you've made some more postings. Anyway you should find more family details here: http://www.antill.org.uk
There is a link to a surname list on the homepage - follow the Antill or Swain names down. Some of them changed their surname to White. No idea why, but it has made tracing them on the internet v v difficult ???
There is an e-mail address on the home page if you'd like to know more, or if you can fill in some of the spaces ;D
Love to hear from you anyway 8)
cheers

I have been on the site before; it's brilliant and has filled in a lot of gaps. I have got information on further descendants of Harry Swain Antill through Lillian Antill if that is of any use.
-
That's really good to hear :D
If you contact my husband John (the Antill) from the website, he'll have more details of people who may still be alive. As a rule of thumb if someone was born after around 1920, we've reckoned they could still be living and have not put any details or links to them.
We've got some information about Wallace Antill, who went to Canada, but sadly killed in WW1 and William Ewart Antill's attestation papers. Also extracts from 75th Canadian war diary.
cheers for now
