Hi
I was wondering if anyone can check the electoral rolls for the Dronfield district for some addresses that I have.
I would be grateful if you could tell me where I get these online or do I visit a local library or records office and which one? Unfortunately I do not live locally so I am bit in the dark about this.
Also, I am not sure what years the electoral rolls started and what years you can get access to at any sources.
I would appreciate any advice and help.
Thanks...........Elaine

Hi
This site may help
http://www.croydononline.org/history/genealogy/electoral.asp
I think some of the electoral rolls are now appearing on the ancestry website
And generally - yes - electoral rolls are kept in the local studies for the county concerned

Hi
I believe you were interested in a Jonathan Grindlow(Gundlow?) Taylor from Dronfield. I have a silver pocket watch that was passed to me with an inscription bearing this name and the year 1877. No idea as to how we came by this watch. But let me know in case of any interest and I'll send you some pics. Regards

He is related to my maternal grandparents so I would be interested in this & pics & if you have any old photos I maybe able to tell you who they are if you have any. Perhaps you are related to this family in some way & can PM when you are able & any family details or Dronfield connections. I loook forward to hearing from you.

Hi Elain
I'd love to know the history of your maternal grandparents because reading the posts it seems like they moved a bit in their times.
Did they go to Malta as part of the British garrison stationed there by any chance? I am from a Maltese family and your ancestor's watch came with some other watches collected by an elderly relative of mine who's passed away there and was a lot into British memorabilia. I tried restoring the watch because it's such good quality but it seems impossible so I gave up and it's going to Ebay. Meantime here's the pcis I promised you. Cheers. Joanne

The name was Salvatore Said. He collected silver pocket watches and this watch was among the collection.
