Please could you look up William Whitehall Adams in Chesham PR's? Born Chesham about 1823, if I have done my sums right! Age 38 in 1861, but living in Middlesex by then.
Thanks
:)

Dahlia,
I have been through the PR's from 1810 - 1830 but could not find William Whitehall Adams, there were LOTS of baptists in Chesham so perhaphs the family were baptists. I will re-check though just to make sure that I didn't just miss him.
I have found a family of ADAMS in the 1851 and a son 'fits in'
James Adams HD age 48 M Leather dealer b Chesham
Eleanor Adams WI 46 M b MDX uxbridge
William W Adams son 18 U b Chesham
Mary NIGHTINGALE Svt 18 U b HRT Flaunden
Any use? trouble is he is 10 years younger than the age you have from the 1861.

Thanks for that, I'll weigh up what I know and re-assess my info. A bit busy just now, as have just fetched my son back from Uni.
Thanks again

Dahlia,
i re-checked the Chesham PR's from 1810 - 1830 and did not find a single ADAMS in the baptisms. I can only think that they were baptists or went to a parish just outside Chesham.
If you nee any other info for Chesham checking out just ask me and I will see what I can do for you
I know what you mean about time - my daughter has also just come home from Uni and I am knee deep in washing - don't you just love them!
Cullen.

Hey, thanks for that! I think you might be right. Have looked again at 1861 entry, and think William's age might just read 28, not 38 as I thought.
That would make his date of birth 1833, just outside te area you searched.
Washing pile not too bad, he did his laundry before coming home!!
Thanks again,
I'm going to check out familysearch now.

Dahlia,
When i go in next week I will check around 1833 for you - its no trouble at all. The library has the PR's in hard copy up untill 1837.

Thanks a lot.
Familysearch was no help. I think there may have been a much younger brother (James Nutt Adams) who seems to have become a vicar, but I might be wrong there. If so probably not NonConformists. I have no record of anyone being other than C of E in this branc of the family - but you never know.

Dahlia,
Sorry, still no baptism for ADAMS even up to 1837.
If I happen across him at a later date I will let you know. I might even be able to find him on 1841 if I am lucky.

Ok - thanks for looking.

Hi Dahlia,
Did you eventually find William?
I'm actually looking for James Nutt Adams, or more specifically possible links to Patience & Emma Adams.
James N. was born 1852, which makes Eleanor an unlikely mother given than she would have been about 47.
Oh and 1841 census has William Whetchell Adams born abt 1793 in Chesham, with James & Eleanor.
best.
