Searching for info about an Oliver Dawson who ended up in nz during the goldrush His death printout states Hampshire but no record of him there He would have been born about 1839 Unsure if he travelled with family or a friend We have a family bible with dawson names in it but again no record of that family in hampshire. there is a message in the bible which reads To william lewis medwin And Medwin is not a family name.So am wondering if this was someone he traveled with and william gave him the bible later on as the message is dated 1839 which seems to be the year oliver was born and his first born son was named wiliam. Did oliver dawson and a william medwin travel together to the gold fields in australia first and then nz? Hope somebody can help in some way many thanks Hereford.

This is very intersting as those dawson names are in the family bible which seems to have been owned by Medwin who at this stage is not related but could be connected he seems to have been in Australia at the same time as Oliver DawsonI am assuming a friend who traveled with oliver . Will look further Thanks again Hereford

just a long shot but when I read that you had a family bible with dawson names in it my attention was caught. I'm researching Dawsons from Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire. names: adam dawson b. 1818, richard, George, Maria, Charlotte and many more.
Could you write me with the Dawson names and dates please.
