Title: McClean/Jackson Carney Hill
Post by: emcee1 on Friday 22 January 10 23:00 GMT (UK)
I am trying to track down information about my McClean/McLean/McClain/McLain roots.  Samuel McClean was born March 18, 1841 and he married Mary Jackson who what born February 1, 1839.  Both were born in county Down, but I do nto know the specifics.  They married in 1862 and went on to have 12 children.  Of these, 2 died young before the entire family moved to the U.S. and settled in Iowa.

I know that in 1863, Samuel and Mary leased a house and ½ acre of land in Carney Hill from Nicholas D. Crommelin.

I have lots of information about the family after that, but I am hitting brickwalls in finding any additional information about the Irish roots.

Any help would be great.

Thanks
Cory McLain

Cory,
The marriage rook place on 30 Jul 1862 in Newtownards Civil Registrars Office. Using the following you can order a certificate fro GRONI.
1862, Newtownards, Vol9 Page 202.
This will give the fathers' names and the addresses of the couple at the time of marriage.
