I am looking for a Richard Winter born circa 1780 I believe in Westmorland. He married a Mary Bird in 1805 (hence my guess at birth date) and their children were born in Kirkby Stephen, Westmorland between 1808 and 1821. I have checked the IGI but can't see a suitable Richard so am wondering if he is still alive on 1841 or 1851 censuses with hopefully a place of birth. I do not know his occupation.
(If it helps, their youngest son was called Richard, his occupation was Chemist/Druggist and his children were born in Appleby, Westmorland.)
If someone could please check the censuses, I should be very grateful.
With many thanks.

Hello Dettori28
That is wonderful! Thank you very very much. The youngest son, Richard, did have a son Frederick Richard born 1860 so that fits in nicely with the gravestone inscription. I didn't know about the brewery so that is very interesting and of course the inscription on the gravestone is also very helpful.
Thank you also for the info on father Thomas Winter and his wife.
I can't thank you enough for all that lovely information.
Many thanks for your efforts.
With grateful thanks.

Zephyr,
Hi, I'm Blair Winter, the Richard in question's x4 Grandson. I've got quite a good deal of info and pictures etc on Ancestry.
Ricahrd was the co -owner of the Brewery in Doomgate (Winter and Sanderson), the family also ran a few of the pubs in Appleby around that time. The Holmes-Sanderson family seem to have remained friends with the family over the years as Helen Holmes Sanderson was a witness at my Grandads Wedding - I cant find the link so any ifo on them would be greatfully recieved. The Brewery in Appleby was on the corner of Holmes Street and Doomgate so I suspect they are an old Appleyby family.
I've also got the original of his son Richard's (the druggist) freedom of Appleby. Its all on Ancestry and is quite a lot by 'Ryan S' on there. I also got a few bits not on Ancestry regarding the son like his chemist shop details and chemist registration etc. They all left Appleby around 1880 to the North East (for some reason my Grandad was born in York as the family spent 2 years there) but the family hails from the Durham area fom 1880, and split again around the depression in the 20s. If your related or otherwise I would love to hear from you and as to why you have an interest. Regards Blair.

Hello Blair
Thank you for contacting me.
I am researching the Bardy family from York. One of my Uncles married a Nancy Florence Winter. I just need to dig out my file on the Winter family and then I will send you a pm.
Regards.
