Title: Warstones Estate, Penn, Wolverhampton
Post by: hmtree on Wednesday 20 January 10 11:51 GMT (UK)
Does anyone have any photographs or memories of Warstones Estate, Penn, Wolverhampton in the 1950s and 1960s.
I was brought up on this estate in the 1950's, but I have not got photographs from that time.
I would love to see any images of the estate that may be out there.

Regards  H.

Hi

Have you tried Google images?

Hi Wendy

Thankyou for the response. I have looked through google images, but have not found any that show the estate around where I lived. This area was Warstones Gardens flats and the farmland by Leasowes wood - all long gone now i'm afraid.

Regards
Harry.

Hi Harry,

I grew up on Warstones too - Draycott Close!

Have a look on flickr. There's at least one photo of a bus coming round the corner just past Warsones Gdns.  Couldn't find any old pics though. I don't think many of us could afford cameras!!

Just to jog your memory a little further - Did you play in the old farm house before it was demolished to make way for the  Old Folks Home? The house was on the opposite side of the road to the bottom of The Green.

Hi Tony
Thanks for the information about flickr, and for your time in looking into the subject for me.
I do well remember the house you mention in your reply. It was called Leasowes house and I spent many happy hours playing around it, and in the lovely wood that used to be the grounds to the house.

Best wishes
Harry

Harry is an unusual name for someone your age, can I just ask if you're Hilary's brother. I've thought about asking a while ago but the temptation to ask has got the better of me.
Sorry

It seems that the original poster is now registered as a guest, so probably won't see your reply, patriciap. I tried accessing his profile unable to do so.
