Title: Lancaster R5682
Post by: D.S. Drijver on Tuesday 19 January 10 09:23 GMT (UK)
On 5th september 1942 Lancaster R5682 of No. 61 Squadron failed to return from a mission to Bremen. The bomber crashed at 02.51 hours near the village of Wartena / The Netherlands. Three crewmembers were killed and four succeeded in bailing out. They were taken prisoner by the Germans. In March an exibition will be opened about the airwar over the community of "Boarnsterhim". One of the crews which will be commemorated is the one of the R5682. Therefore we will be pleased to receive information about J.F. Cooper, (RCAF R/55387), P.C.V. Joslin (RAF 131479) and E.J. May (RAF 755631).

Also have a look at the website www.luchtoorlogfriesland.nl

Kind regards,
