Title: McHugh's in Tyrone

I am searching for  John McHugh born 1823 who married Ellen McMinamin.
I have no idea where they came from.  Family stories say County Tyrone. John left Ireland and moved to central Pennsyvania late 1848 or early 1849.   Ellen followed shortly after and gave birth to their son James, May 1849 "on the ocean". So John would have had to leave Ireland no earlier than late 1848.

I can not find either John or Ellen on any ships records. Can't find anything in his civil war records that name a town or county.  I am really at a loss here. 

Any ideas???

I am not sure of there religion. I would have thought that they were Presbyterian. The children and grandchildren belonged to the Presbyterian church in Mapleton Depot, Pennsylvania. But, John and Ellen were buried in a Catholic cemetery. 

I would guess they were catholic.
