Can anyone help me find a birth for my cousin pls? It was in 1937/1938 in Morden, Surrey? It was a Stillbirth in a private Nursing Home in Consfield Avenue, Motspur Park, Surrey (she's not sure if it was Malden or Morden tho). Her Mothers maiden name was Masters and it was a Girl and she believes they called her Valerie. I've been thru all the BMD's on most sites with no luck. Hope someone can help. Many thanx.
Margaret.

Hi
Have you checked the deaths - I think with stillbirths very often the birth is not registered as such, just a death record

If it was a stillbirth - ie the baby never breathed, then there will not be a birth reg.
If the baby lived, even if only for a matter of minutes, after birth, then that is not a stillbirth, and then there will be a birth reg and also a death reg.
There is a bit about stillbirths on the gro site, I beleive

Hi Rosie,
Yes i've checked the deaths too!! No Luck. Thanx anyway.
Thanx Lizdb. We dont know if it breathed or not as her parents never spoke about it all. My Nan had a stillbirth which was both birth and death registered, so she must have taken a breath then, i didnt know that. I will try and find something on the gro site.
Thanx to both of u for yr help.
Margaret.

If I remember correctly, there is a separate register and it is not generally available.
