My Roberts ancestors came from Stotherton and Alvesley and unless they are mispelt I can't find them! Alveley I recognise but no clue to what or where Stotherton could be. Samuel was born in the former in 1796 and Hannah (Ann?) in 1801.
Having lived in Salop for the first 30 years of my life I'm a bit taken aback at my lack of knowledge, can anyone help,
Thank you,
Alan Harley

STOTTESDEN - maybe ?

I have to agree with Gortonboy it's almost certainly Stottesdon. It's close to Cleobury Mortimer.

Thanks to you all, Stottesdon makes sense. It's obvous that particular census enumerator didn't know the area or how to spell!
