This site has a link to "uk records hub" website, i followed the link & did a search for a marriage in Stockton on Tees, England.. I was informed that it had found the marriage record in it's database but i was then asked to pay $39 before i could view it (& an unlimited number of other records too, apparently).
I was a bit suspicious of this, and of being asked to pay in US dollars for what purported to be a British site, so i did another search but this time i searched for the name xxxxx yyyyy zzzzz who was married in pantsdown, uk.. it found that marriage record too and again it wanted $39 from me before i could see it.
Seems rather dodgy to me, do a search for anything on that site & it will tell you that it has found the record you're looking for whether it exists or not & then ask you for money to view it.. I was not prepared to pay $39 to see what result i was given from the pantsdown marriage register, but i doubt it would have been genuine.

Gullible people all over will be sending off $39 just because they have found a name they want;workmate has spent hundreds over the years.

A scam >:( >:( >:( leave it alone.

No doubt, I put in a query yesterday, allegedly found it, but I didn't like the price $39 so didn't proceed.

Hi
I can't find anything linking from Rootschat to the site you mention.
It is always a case of caveat emptor - let the buyer beware - especially when you don't know what you're getting for your money!
Kind regards, Arranroots ;)

I found the UK records hub, but was definitely NOT directed there from Rootschat. Re-reading the post, I am not sure that MFWUK was referring to Rootschat. Perhaps he will clarify the position?

Yes, it absolutely was from a link on here that's why i posted to here.. there's a box at the top of each page with 2 or 3 links which seem to be random, one is for that site.. that is how i ended up there!
In fact check out the screenshot.. (the links are at the bottom of pages too, evidently).

Thanks. Those links are "served" by Google as being relevant to the page on which they're found. With a lot of internet purchases there is an element of buying sight-unseen, so it might be that the site is perfectly OK but I acknowledge that you found it worrying.
I will report your concerns to the site owners, who can contact Google but there might not be much that can be done, or there might be a delay.
Will do what I can to make your views known anyway.
Kind regards, Arranroots ;)

Thanks for that Arran, mfwuk, this is the price we pay for a fine free website, personally I think it is a price worth paying for the feedback that we all get.
