Title: Sheasby
Post by: popkiwi on Thursday 07 January 10 02:34 GMT (UK)
I am searching for my Sheasby Family from Long Itchington, Warwickshire. I have gone back to Samuel Sheasby born about 1780 who Mary Unknown and had four children, John 1807, Sarah 1814, George 1815 and Ann 1817.
My descendancy is through George who married Sophia Clause and had a son Thomas in 1843. He married Hannah french and they immigrated to New Zealand.
Any info would be appreciated - Evan Bennett

Hi - No, I don't have that info and it does sound interesting. I am from NZ, not sure how far Northampton is from Warwick, but I know they moved around for various reasons.
It will be interesting to see if John might be Samuels brother.

Hi again - I don't have a birth place for Samuel so there is always a chance he was born in Northampton.

Hi - Sorry, I meant to say the John would be Samuels son.  I have no record of Samuels death so it is possible that this is the correct Mary

The Mary I have was born in 1778 in Preston Gafey, Northamptonshire and died in 1867, about 88 yrs old - this sounds very much like her.

this is more likely to be Samuel's death reg

Jun qtr 1841 Southam
16 313

fits with the burial date

He would just have missed being on 1841 census - most of census were taken end Mar early Apr -but the 1841 was taken on 6 Jun

will post census now

Hi - I wonder if Samuel and Mary Ann Married in Northampton or Warwickshire.

I see on the map that it is only a short distance from their birthplaces, Long Itchington and Preston Capes.

I have checked IGI bit it appears no one has transcribed those ares as yet and I don't know the Parish names.

Hi - I have just received your message and what you have sounds promising.

As yet I don't have a spouse for Sarah but I do have her three siblings, all born in Long Itchington.

My branch of the Sheasby family came from Warwickshire and immigrated to New Zealand (1874) where I was born. I have a record of the passenger list. I now live in Australia.

If you do find that we are connected then I have quite a lot of info and photos that would be of interest to you.

I have gone back as far as Samuel Sheasby born in 1774.

I look forward to your reply when you arrive back from holiday.

Regards, Evan Bennett.

Hi Debs - Thanks for your info. What I can add is as follows -

I had Sarah Sheasby, but not her spouse, so that was good news for me.
Sarah was born 09/01/1814 in Long Itchington, which matches her spouse exactly.
Sarah had three siblings, John b 04/10/1807, an ag lab. In 1851 John was living with his parents in The Cottage, Bascote and reamined single until he died aged 57 on 02/06/1867 in Bascote, Southam, Warwickshire.
George Sheasby, ag lab born 1815 in Long Itchington. George is from whom I descend. He married Sophia Clowse in 1833 and died in 1895. I have more info on them and their six children.
Ann Sheasby was born 02/02/1917 in Long Itchington.
I also have Sarah's parents, Samuel and Mary.

I have too much info to put on here so if you are interested please contact me via email - (*) - and I can let you know much more.

I look forward to hearing from you and maybe getting some more info off you, regards - Evan Bennett, Australia.
