HI and welcome to rootschat.
If you could give us a little more info please. It would make it easier for someone to help.
Can you tell us when the PEENs lived in Plumstead, their fuller names- and any birth/death/marriage info you have?
Apart from this helping to identify them it also means we are not goinf over the ground you have covered.

-
your fortunatus peen born 1816
here he is
name; fortunatus peen
chr; 3rd march 1816 at plumstead
buried; 4th oct 1820 at plumstead
parents; thomas peen and elizabeth boulter
this is only a submitted entry though on the I.G.I
-
according to a submitted entry the fortunatus born 1829 was the son of john peen and sarah pickering
there is this couple on the 1841 who could be them
1841
HO107/4484/19/23/4.
john peen age 35. occ. labourer.
sarah peen age 35
amelia peen age 8
ann peen age 7
ellen peen age 4

Hi wozzle
Thank you very much for all this information, I'm at last starting to make some sort of head way with my lost ancestors I can find some information but you folk make it seem so easyer it takes me forever just to find one person, may be it's my age and lack of knowledge I was born 1938 if at anytime you want some records from me for the peen family from 1911 please let me know.
Now if possable I would like to try and find more on Thomas Peen born abt 1778 Bu 10 Feb 1821.
His parents and family.
Thomas married 9th May 1808 to Saint Anne Soho 1808.
And their children if possable
-
i see his wifes name was elizabeth boulter
is that correct
here are possibly his children
if it is then you already have fortunatus peen christened march 1816 at plumstead parents thomas/elizabeth
john han peen christened 13/8/1809 at plumstead parents thomas/elizabeth
jemima peen christened 10/5/1812 no parents listed
-
john han peen died in woolwich in 1874 aged 65
-
i think the 1841 census posted of john peen and sarah peen(peckring) is the son of thomas peen and elizabeth boulter
you already have the 1841 census for them
will see if i can find them in later censuses
john should be in censuses 1841-1871
he then dies in woolwich in 1874
-
having trouble finding him in 1851
here he is in 1861
RG9/411/40/11
john peen age 53. b. plumstead. occ; store house man. head
sarah age 54. b. ditto. wife
living at;5,brook hill row, plumstead,kent
reg.dist; lewisham
this is strange also in the household is
ann dorran age 28. b. plumstead.(widowed)
elizabeth peen age 17. b. ditto. occ. needle girl. daughter
ellen peen age 15. b. ditto. occ. servant. daughter
kate peen age 13. b. ditto. occ. servant. daughter
john peen age 12. b. ditto. son
alice age 10. b. ditto. daughter
john dorran age 9. b. ditto. lodger
william dorran age 6. b. ditto. lodger
i can see that ann dorran could be ann peen from the 1841 census
but ellen peen aged 15?
there was an ellen peen on the 1841 aged 14
maybe she died and john/sarah named another child ellen
-
there is an ellen adelaide peen died in 1845 in lewisham reg dist
this is the right dist for where john/sarah peen and family were in 1841
-
i think this confirms that the death of ellen adelaide peen is indeed the ellen peen who is in the 1841 census aged 4
ellen adelaide peen buried on the 2/2/1844 at st.nicholas church, plumstead, greenwich, middlesex
aged 7 years and 6 months
here are some more of the peen family burials
sarah peen buried at st margaret plumstead on the 24/12/1884 aged 80
john han peen buried at st.margaret plumstead on the 15/10/1874 aged 65
here are two who never made it into the censuses
eliza peen buried at st.nicholas plumstead on the 15/3/1831 aged 1
caroline peen buried at st nicholas plumstead on the 16/4/1837 aged 1
william george boulter peen buried at st nicholas plumstead on the 21/2/1850 age 9(this could be the william aged 1mnth on the 1841 census)
and a later one
esther sarah peen buried at st.margaret plumstead on the 29/8/1879 aged 1
address at time of death; princes road, plumstead
so there is still 2 children who appear on the 1841 census who we do not know what happened to them they are amelia born 1833 and emma born 1839
-
having trouble finding him in 1851
here he is in 1861
RG9/411/40/11
john peen age 53. b. plumstead. occ; store house man. head

living at;5,brook hill row, plumstead,kent

just found ann peens marriage
ann peen/john dorrens
y.o.r. 1851
qtr; apr/may/jun
dist; lewisham
vol; 5
page; 389
-
and here is amelias marriage and emmas marriage
amelia elizabeth peen
y.o.r. 1856
qtr; oct/nov/dec
dist; greenwich
vol; 1d
page; 810
spouse william henry vance
the marriage took place at st.mary magdelane church, woolwich on the 21/10/1856
emma jane peen married william hopkins on the 30/5/1858 at st.mary magdelene, woolwich
there is a discrepancy with these marriages though
john peens occupation on both marriages is firework maker yet on the 1861 census he is down as store house man
on ann peen and john dorrens marriage john peens occ is down as foreman at the royal arsenal woolwich
this is getting confusing now there is a marriage in 1859 of a sarah berry peen aged 17. fathers name john han peen fathers occ firework maker
this is definitely your john
which makes the other marriages of amelia and emma yours also
it leaves a doubt whether the 1861 census of john peen and sarah peen is yours
because this john peen works at the royal arsenal and in 1861 his occ is down as store house man
anyone any ideas?
royal arsenal and fireworks could go together i suppose?

Hi 'Wozzle
Thank you very much for all your help it certainly looks like the family never left Plumstead and boy where not to much on the agenda to carry on the name.
So if any other information comes available it would very much appreciated.
Would it be possable for you to tell me if their is a site I might be able to look for photos of the family or the district they might have lived.
Regards
Raemondy :)
-
will tick this post and come back to it over the weekend
with regard to your last question i am afraid i do not know if there is a site with photos of the peen family
here are some old photos of plumstead
www.kenrix.co.uk
when it comes up just look at the index on the left hand side and click "history and photos"
-
Hi Wozzle
Thank you for everything you are doing for me it's very much appreciated
I'm just about to start looking at the photo's.
raemondy
-
going back to the discrepancy posted above
here is sarah berry peens baptism
sarah berry peen daughter of john and sarah peen
born on the 2/2/1843. bapt on the 5/3/1843 at st.nicholas, plumstead
fathers occupation foreman in R. ------.
could really do with finding the peen family in 1851
but i have been looking for ages now and cannot find them anywhere
there should be john his wife sarah with children sarah, elizabeth, ellen, kate, john and possibly alice
-
Hi Wozzel
Thank you for this in formation it seem we are starting to put this generation together, if possable you might come across Thomas peen born 1778 it would be nice to find some of his distant relitives, mid 1700 hundreds.
Hey this really make me feel I'm also getting old I have been looking through old parish records but I seem to have come on a stumbling block in london Gov Archives.
raemondy :)
-
found this (don't know if you already have it)
thomas peen (pauper) buried on the 13/2/1821 at st nicholas plumstead aged 43
on an earlier reply i gave you a submitted entry for fortunatus peen death
i can now confirm this as factual though the submitted date is wrong
fortunatus peen(pauper) buried on the 4/12/1820 at st.nicholas,plumstead. aged 4.
-
Thank you Wozzel
This information is great i had the burial year on the date and had no idea of them being burried as paupers
I have a attached 2 phot one of John Archable percy Peen B: 1882 and one of John and his wife Gertrude Venables these photos where taken 1948 in Australia they might come in handy for any one else looking for this family
Cheers
