Title: Micklehills farm, Lichfield
Post by: jo1962 on Saturday 02 January 10 14:13 GMT (UK)
Hi all,
On the 1911 census my ancestors were living at the above farm. I can't find out whether this farm still exits and if so where it is.  Anybody familiar with Lichfield who can help?
Many thanks
Jo  :)

Hi Jo,  Have you tried an internet search, there is what looks like a modern aerial photo of Mickle Hills (two words) Farm Lichfield on wikimapia.   Not sure if it's the original farm or a newer build.

Hi Jo, When you see the photo, click on the Map Type dropdown menu and select Google Hybrid, this will show you road names around it etc.

Hello,

I looked for Mickle Hills Lichfield in Google Maps, and apparently it is a Saddlery now. The aerial view shows that it is still in a rural area, but as Jool said, it is not distinct enough to tell whether it is the original farmhouse.

Jo,

There is still farm land around that site now, though I believe the buliding has been redeveloped from the original.

Is it the Litherland family you have the link to?

Hi JPG,

Thanks for your reply.  No I didn't know about the son who lost his life in WW1.  I've only just picked up this family line so every thing about the family is new to me.  Do you know if the son was Charles or Thomas?
I think they were the only 2 sons of James and Emma, I know they had a daughter Millicent May as well.

Regards
Jo  :)

Hi Jo,

I am working on a book about Lichfield in WW1 and with this name on the memorials I have researched all the 220 men.

From the 1911 census
James born 1858 Farmer Lichfield
Emma born 1848 Bermondsey London
Charles born 1888 Assisting On Farm Lichfield
Millie born 1890 Dressmaker Lichfield
Thomas born 1892 Assisting On Farm  Lichfield
ELLOITT, Mary Anne Sister In Law Widow born 1846 Bermondsey London

The name is quite regular in local history
