Hello Alyson123,

I don't know the answer offhand but the people who will be able to help with this are in the Chester Heritage and History Centre. They have a website but the link is very long, could I ask you to put this into the search engine in the circumstances?

Their E-Mail address is on the website.

Hiya Alyson....Cadburys factory in Moreton is probably what you are looking for...I played football for Cadburys in the mid 1970`s...Hoole to Moreton is about 20 minutes in a car or by train...it was where the Cadburys Cakes were made and you will have to google it but "Premiere Foods" is the name of the factory now but it is still called Cadburys by all the locals...http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/78073 hope this comes up....I think it ceased to be Cadburys in the 1990`s....allan

Hi Jo

If you go to the bottom of this page and click on 'Shrink link' you can paste the long link in and it will give you a much more manageable one to post on the thread   :) :)

Hi,
I don't think the Moreton factory is the one in this case. The reference is in the 1911 census and I am fairly sure that factory was built some years after WW2 by Cadbury to make chocolate biscuits and later their cake range. I remember the gorgeous smell as we took our children past the factory on the way to the beach.

Hi:  my thought would be - as an advertising agent, he wouldn't necessarily have had to live local to the chocolate manufacturer, would he  :-\  He could have worked for any one of the manufacturers, based anywhere in the country.

Hi, Alyson, have you looked at the trade directories?  I thought that perhaps they supplied confectioners or cocoa rooms.
The Kellys Directory for Cheshire 1910 is online at the following link if you are interested look at page 846

Cadbury Moreton was built in 1958.  The first time they had a factory in this part of the country.  Bournville being the main factory of course.

Bournville is in or near Birmingham the home of Cadbury's.  I think the town is called Bournville?  The Cadbury family were quakers and were well thought of by their employees I understand.

Sorry I can't tell you more.

Try a different way of searching,Go back to the directories and look for you ancestors name Under resident (Chester).Sometimes but not allways, in brackets, they give who they work for.I have been doing the directories for years and found that they are usually big establishment ,For the want of a better word :)
