Hi Ann
I'm looking for a birth record for Thomas Fildes - may be known as Thomas Paine Fildes.  Father William, mother unknown.
Birth around 1817 - and, if same as other siblings, would have been baptised at Manchester Cathedral.
I have found one on IGI for 9th Sept 1821 - could be him but baptised aged 4 yrs!
Any chance you can see if you can find it for me?  I am particulalry interested in the occupation of the father William.
Thanks so much.
Claudia

Hi Ann,
It is very good of you to offer.  My husbands ancestors lived in the St Johns District of Manchester and for genrations got married and christened in Manchester Cathedral.  I need to proove the parentage of a couple of these Newell or Newall or Newel or Newhall or other variants.  I have an IGI for Samuel Newell, christening Manchester cathedral, 4 Mar 1810.  His parents are given as William Newell and Mary.  However there are two possible William and Mary marriages :- William Newall to Mary Hill 22 Aug 1804 or William Newell to Mary Moors 14 June 1792.

I'd love to know for sure which of these are Samuels parents.  Then if not being too greedy, if you could find who William newells parents were.  There are tons of IGI's for Newell/Newall at Manchester cathedral - it's just finding the right ones.

Thanks
Suzanne

Hi Ann,

if you get chance will you find out where records would be held for St Joseph's Girls Industrial School, Rusholme, looking for the records of Alice and Mary Campbell who are there in the 1891 census.

Thanks and regards,
Lisa
