Could anyone look up a marriage record for William CHURCH please?
He married someone called Susannah, and I'm trying to find her maiden name.
The only clue as to date and parish I have is that I believe their first child, Susannah CHURCH, born around 1801, possibly in Fleggburgh (this from census records)
Any help would be much appreciated

Sorry to anyone who had read this already - his name is William, not Thomas

No sign of the marriage on Freereg, IGI or NFHS marriage index 1801-1837. You need a look up of the Burgh St Margaret marriages register, or if it is not found there, you could try the banns register.

Thanks Eileen & Peggy,
The Church/ Shreeve marriage could be it. I don't know if there were any other children, so maybe Susannah had older brothers & sisters.
I do know that on the 1841 census, there was a William & Susannah Church living in Freethorpe. Would you know if that's near to Fleggburgh?

I would say its about 6-8 miles away

FreeReg shows a son Stephen was baptised 15/4/1808 Freethorpe, son of William Church and Susannah Shreeve.

Thanks Annette & Eileen,
Freethorpe doesn't seem too far away - it could well be the Churches I'm looking for.
The son called Stephen is a little odd as I haven't come across the name anywhere else in the tree and they seemed to carry the same names down through the generations. It doesn't mean that they're not susannah's parents though.

I have a Mary Church who married John Clarke in 1785 in Wickhampton which is next to Freethorpe. Do you know if there is any connection to your William?

Hi,
I'm not sure if there's a connection. The information I have on William is from the online Bishop's Transcripts. I've found a few siblings, Elizabeth b. 1765, Martha 1766-1768, Martha b. 1768, Thomas b. 1771 and Jane b. 1722. I suppose it's possible I haven't found the whole family, but they were all baptised in Blofield.
It's quite possible there's a connection. William's father was John Church, b. 1745. I have no other information about him, so I don't know if he was born/brought up in Wickhampton. Can you let me know if you can find a link please?
Cheers,

The only information I have is the marriage of Mary Church to John Clarke. They were both from the parish of Wickhampton at the time of their marriage.
There children were Martha, John, William, James, Edward and Elizabeth.
