Hi everyone,
I am looking for help this time please.
Trying to trace a marriage between Elizabeth Buckley, of Kilnardrish, Co. Cork to John Cronin, Scart, Aherla in 1883.
What parish should I be looking at for Kilnardrish? I found one possible marriage listed on the Irish BMD Apr-June 1883 vol 5 page 92. Although it didn't say which district. I went to the BMD office in Cork armed with this information and unfortunately they couldn't locate it. I mentioned Cannaway or Canovee, which they checked and also Macroom district but no luck. I am probably wrong with Canovee or Macroom.
What church might they have got married in?
Could anybody point me in the right direction please?
Thanks
Mary

The registration district for that record you found is Cork - which includes the city and some of the nearby towns and townlands. Along with the year/quarter, volume & page that should be enough to order a cert from the GRO

Thanks for your very fast reply. I thought that the Cork BMD office have access to the same records as GRO but I might just send off for the cert.
The lady that looked after me said that the vol and page no doesn't mean anything to them and she had to go through the books manually.
So it looks like they could have got married in the City which is possible as a good few people from the Country got married in churches like St. Peter and Pauls in the City centre or St. Mary & St. Anns Shandon.
I will try again
thanks for that

I see a match in the index for John Cronin to that reference, but cannot see anything for corresponding Elizabeth Buckley.
Dont know why the office in Cork didn't recognize the reference numbers.. I thought they would use the same indexing system as GRO head office

Yeah you would imagine so but I have to say the staff member was extremely helpful and did go through about three large volumes for different areas.
Thanks again for your help

Hello! I'm sorry to resurrect such an old thread! But I'm researching my own family tree and John and Lizzie were my great-grandparents. Their son Denis Cronin was my grandfather. Randomly finding this post made me register for RootsChat so I'm not quite sure how the site works. But I'd love if the original poster could contact me or let me know any more information about Lizzie!

Thanks to everyone for your help.
I know it has been a long time since I originally posted but I have messaged Curious cousin and it turns out our grandparents are brother and sister.
So we are filling in the blanks on the family tree which is fantastic and will be meeting up in the next few weeks.
it turns out the Buckley family came from Slievereagh area of Macroom.
Thanks again,
Mary
