I am stuck with following family
Michael Kilkenny born in IReland in 1842 ( approx) - died in Woonsocket, RI 1907
Mary Moran ( wife) born in Ireland about 1840 - died in 1885
I Know about their children but what about their parent -
Michael 's parents - James KIlkenny and Catherine ?\
Mary's parents - James Moran
The parents names might even be wrong - please help out if you know

You've posted this on Co. Leitrim board so do you think that's where they came from in Ireland? Any idea when they went to U.S. and if they married in Ireland or U.S.?
-
Both are from Ireland - not sure if they married in Ireland or USA - settled in RI when they came to the states
-
Yes, I realise they both came from 'Ireland' but what's the Co. Leitrim connection? Do you know when they arrived in U.S.? If not, when is the 1st U.S. census you've found them listed in? When was the first child born (and where)?
-
OKay, from what I can see I got this information initially from a obituary of a relative and he is listed in the 1900 census in the USA. I am not interested in him or her at the moment but more of their parents - who are they?
-
Since both Michael and Mary were both born before civil registration started (1864) you will need to research parish records to locate any baptism details (if they survive). To do this you will need to establish their religion and the location of their births - i.e. parish or townland.
did they marry in Ireland or US ?

I think in Ireland - near Tooma, Cloone

Have you found any US details on them (census, marriage, deaths certs) ?

There's a James Kilkenny listed on Griffiths valuation in the townland of Drumna, parish of Cloone, Co. Leitrim - see : James Kilkenny, Cloone - 1857 Griffiths (http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/index.xml?action=doNameSearch&Submit.x=0&Submit.y=0&Submit=Submit&familyname=kilkenny&firstname=james&baronyname=&countyname=LEITRIM&unionname=&parishname=)
James is listed occupying a caretaker's cottage
There a some parish records for Co. Leitrim available on the pay-website of the Irish Family History Foundation at www.irish-roots.ie These seem to include some Kilkenny listings, but I dont see any good matches for Michael's baptism when entering James as father.

James Kilkenny of Drimna married Catherine McCartan sometime before 1834. The marriage does not appear in the Cloone parish records and this date is too early for the Aughavas records. It may be that they married in some other parish.
At least 4 children are recorded in the Cloone parish records: Ally on 31st December 1834, Michael on 15th August 1836, Pat on 21st March 1842 and John on 3rd June 1844. There is also another Ally who was baptised 30th March 1845. Her mother was given as Catherine McCabe but I believe this may have been an error in the parish book.
I cannot find Mary in either the Cloone or the Aughavas records although the latter probably start too late for her. Neither can I find any trace of a marriage of these people.
I suggest you also look for Guilheany as an alternative spelling for Kilkenny and Moraran (or Morraran) as an alternative for Moran. I have found many instances of these in the records.
