Title: Magills/McKeags of Lisleen, Moneyreagh
Post by: Chis34 on Wednesday 23 December 09 14:32 GMT (UK)
I have been able to make a bit of a start on the Magill and McKeags but would be grateful if anyone had any information on the families above.
The family I am particularly interested in is as follows:-
Henry Magill married Elizabeth McKeag in 1858
Henry was born in 1838 and noted as a farmer from Lisleen.
Elizabeth was born in 1837.
Henry's father was Robert (also a farmer of Lisleen) and Elizabeth's father was James, a teacher.(don't know where)
I have discovered that Robert was married to Susanna.
However I have little further information on the McKeag's.
I think there was a sister called Jane.
Any information at all would be great.

Hi,
You may already have seen the entry for Henry Magill in the Ros Davies site (google Ros Davies).
There is an entry in Griffiths for a James McKeag, renting a house and garden in the townland of Moneyreagh, Comber and there is also a national school house in this townland. It's not conclusive but the best I could do.

Regards

Yes, Thanks.
I have been in touch with Ros Davies and some of the information noted may actually be mine. Just trying to widen the net a little.
I picked up some McGill on the Griffith Valuation but missed the James McKeag reference. This would make sense as the McKeags I'm after are from the Moneyrea area. (Its the Magill's who are Lisleen).
I'll check it out thanks.
