Was there a place called Covent Garden in the Sunderland area c. 1810?
If so, where was it?

There was a Covent Garden Street but at the moment unsure exactly where it was.

Yes Covent Garden Street must be it.

Now all I need to do is find out where it was.
My family were using Holy Trinity, so I'm guessing it must have been in the east end of Sunderland.

According to the 1881 census it was classed as in West Sunderland, and it was on the enumerators route between Sans Street and George Street.

I tried this link but couldn't seem to get the search to work for me.

However if you google Holy Trinity Sunderland you will see it is near the vicinity of Sans Street, well not too far away so was in that area somewhere. Sorry I cannot be any more exact.

Yes, there was as some of my ancestors lived there, can't help with where it was or if it's the same as Covent Garden Street though  :-\ . Sorry

Covent Garden Street was off Coronation Street between Sans Street and George Street. Sans Street is now the A1018. Covent Garden Street was demolished in the 1930s East End slum clearances.
If you go to http://gis.durham.gov.uk/website/interMAP/viewer.htm and enter the co-ordinates 440190, 557163 in search it will centre the map on the location. You can see Covent Garden on the 1919-1926 map.
