Hi
Can this be enlarged, e.g. some of the background removed so that the people can be seen more clearly?
Is it possible to tell the regiment Bill was in - it's a WW2 photo c. 1942/43.

Do you mean like this?
Irene

Yes Irene, that's what I meant. Many thanks for your work.

I've pulled the focus forward onto the two at the front.
For a regiment, it would probably be worth asking on the Armed Forces board. If anyone would know, they would

Dear Kizmiaz
Thank you for your restore. It makes things even clearer.
I did put this up on the armed forces board and got some information. But, they have asked for a badge (cap) and arm slashes close up if possible to make a more detailed comment - is this a thing you could do?
Hopefully

The forearm badge might be a signaller's crossed flags.

Hello Rapunzel,
Nothing I can do this end to increase the detail, I'm afraid, but you should be able to scan just the parts of the picture with the cap badge and arm slashes at as high a resolution as your scanner can go. If you then have problems with size, let us know and we can try to sort it, eg. you email someone with the large picture they can shrink it to fit within the requirements

Hi Rapunzal,
For my money that has got to be a Royal Artillary badge.

Hope its ok for you :) :)

Thanks to Terry for the restore, Ainslie for the badge comments - this would fit in with a family story about him being involved in this kind of work, Glen for your suggestions, Ray for your comment and Images of time for your colour version. Everything much appreciated.

The Gunner cap badge is set at an angle on the cap, which made it more difficult to recognise.
