Title: listed as an inebriate ?
Post by: adrian7886 on Monday 14 December 09 15:30 GMT (UK)
Good Afternoon

I have a relative listed as an inebriate in the 1910 census. Seems strange to list someone, who by todays definition would be I guess a drunkard? Or did it have another meaning back then?

Thank you

So far as I am aware, same meaning, but in many ways that era was less inhibited than todays, and they believed the information would be confidential for 100 years.

Are you referring to the USA 1910 Census, or do you mean the UK 1911 Census?
