hi everyone looking for some more information the 42nd bty RFA he was with this unit in the boer war involved in three battles, what im interested in is what he did in india as he was there first and if he was awarded a medal for serving there?
we know he was awarded the qsa and the ksa with certian bars.
George Farnell served in the 42 Brigade, 1 Depot, 1 Reserve Brigade, 5th Depot and 2nd Depot.
23 February 1906 for an additional four years in what I think was the Royal Horse Artillery
previously served in the 4th(Volunteer) Bn The Warwickshire Regt
any help would be great thanx guys.

India was at that point a normal posting for the British Army. Most of the problems that were encountered were on the North West Frontier with Afghanistan (my, how things have changed! NOT!)
He may have been entitled to the India General Service Medal, but as you appear to have his records, it should show on there...

hi thanx for reply, sorry it has taken a while for me to get back, there is no mention on his service records of the medal but he did spend over 3 years i think over there so thought he might have been awarded it but was never given it or someone forgot to issue it is that possible?

can i ask a queation too about medals in the Boer war what does QSA stand for?
